The Duty of Living

The Duty of Living" is a short film about a young soldier's return to his family's home after the zombie apocalypse. Juan Riedinger ("Jennifer's Body", "The Incredible Hulk") plays Darren Stark, who's joined up with one of the emergency squads dispatched to clear out areas with roaming zombies. As he makes his way deteriorated home, he must contend with the memories of the last words he had with his family.

Tissue Paper Kiss

A young man opens a package from his mother on a train. She's given him a photo frame, but declined to put her own image inside because "you know I don't like my picture taken," but when he gets off, he sees the woman from the stock-photo insert his mother left in the frame. He desperately tried to chase after her in the train station, but to no avail. Crestfallen, he treats himself to a nice cup of coffee, but perks up when he sees her yet again in the cafe. He makes his move, and goes over to talk to her about his strange situation, but a language barrier prohibits any further action, and she leaves him with nothing more than a tissue paper kiss.

When polluting Leaf Blowers take over a city, blanketing it with siren-pitched noise and blasting hazardous particulates into the air we breathe, eventually the citizens say enough! Quiet Orinda depicts how five Orinda families suffer from the effects of leaf blower noise and air pollution, and what can be done about it. It's the first community-oriented documentary dealing with this important health and lifestyle issue, making its debut here at the California Independent Film Festival.
